Report on Visit to Roti Bank
Venue: Roti Bank, Chembur, Mumbai & KEM Hospital, Parel, Mumbai
Our Manager Sr. Neeta Lopes, Principal Sr. Margaret Sequeira, Teachers Mrs. Oriana Falcao and Mrs. Reena Sabu along with two students Ms. Evonne Dsouza and Ms. Vedha Panchal visited Roti Bank to witness and participate in the noble cause of food distribution for the underprivileged. Roti Bank is a non-profit organisation started by former Director General of Police, Mr. D. Sivanandan in 2017. The visit aimed at understanding and instilling values of empathy, kindness and social responsibility in students.
The group was welcomed by the volunteers, who explained the mission of Roti Bank—collecting food and distributing it to those in need. After observing the entire process, from food cooking, collection to packaging and distribution, they helped distribute food outside KEM Hospital, Parel where people were waiting in long queues in hot sun.
The active participation in the task undertaken with such love and care, was truly moving. The joy and gratitude on the faces of the recipients deeply moved everyone. Our Principal appreciated the efforts of Roti Bank and encouraged students to take part in similar social service activities. The visit was a heart touching experience and an inspiration to be more conscious about food wastage and encouragment to contribute to such charitable efforts in the future.
