Sister Fermanda was bom in Monza (Italy) on 17th April, 1920 She entered the Institute of the Canossian Daughters of Charity in Vimercate on 19th March, 1939, and was sent to India in October. She pronounced her Vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience on 24th December, 1941. She succeeded brilliantly in her studies and completed M.Ed. She was appointed Headmistress of Canossa High School, Mahim and then Principal of the newly established College at Alleppey, Kerala.

Sr. Fermanda was outstanding in her love for people and her unassuming ways. Her spirituality was rooted in a deep love for Jesus Crucified and His Sorrowful Mother. All those who met her were struck by the radiance of her pure eyes and sweet smile. She had a preferential love for the poor and dexterously hid the good she did. She died of cancer on 22nd January, 1956 and was burned in St. Michael's Church Cemetery, Mahin, Mumbai On 13th October 2016. her relics were taken to St. Joseph's Convent Aleççpey, Kerala.
